Pray for Poor Felix

Wednesday, August 1, 2007

I cannot find a picture of him, but he's adorable and Claire has the best pic anyway and is taking up a collection. Get Well Felix!! I hear you're not on 6 weeks of full bedrest anymore, but are instead about to undergo cheaper surgery. Hmmm. Back Alley perhaps? A cat named Dr. Claw?

Good Luck, Little Dude. Kisses and Cuddles to your stressed Mother.

Felix is a young cat and has rebounded nicely from surgery last Thursday! Yippee! We will know on Thursday how the plate he has in his leg has helped in mending the break. Back ally surgery is actually "country vet" medical care compared to licensed orthopedic surgeon who was quoting me $2500-$3500. Here's how it totals up (in case any of you out there have ever thought about getting a "free kitten")

$450-emergency vet care on a Sunday that included a consult, anethesia for x-rays, a splint, and some pain meds
$185-remove splint, consult with expert surgeon, and two days of very good vet care where all the techs fell in love with the little furry guy
$990-what I think was the SAME surgery as promised by the first vet, complete with digital x-rays that I can view on my computer and follow up visit this week for progress report.

priceless-the little white furry belly that sleeps in the sun and purrs when you pet it.
