Hello There!
Wednesday, July 22, 2009
I have not been writing because I have been uninspired by life. Not to say I haven’t been happy. I am finding all kind of daily joy with my family and friends. Since reflection and introspection were making me self loathe, I am just living completely in the present for now. Which, I suppose has rendered me a bit speechless.
That said, here is a nice link Sage sent me yesterday about Lupus coverage in the NYT. I have been flaring up a bit lately and cannot discount how that contributes to my emotions. I can also tell you we had a wonderful weekend camping and hanging out at Cedar Point. Indy said he wants to live at the campsite all summer. Sounds divine.

Sundae Blues
Saturday, July 11, 2009
Having some self loathing issues this week, but winning Scrabble twice has helped me feel less useless. Surely a woman who can win a game or two of Scrabble deserves to occupy space on this Earth, uh, right?
Normally my existential paradigm runs quietly under the surface of my conscious mind, and I don't bother to think about why I bother to exist -- I just drink coffee, cuddle my son, chat with Sage, do some work. But every once in a while the Crackel shell on my perfect-life sundae gets chipped, and I'm forced to stare at the vanilla ice cream of my soullessness. Doesn't this metaphor make my existential turmoil seem cheerier? Or cherrier? :)
I have no solution or anything, just venting. I am considering a new life purpose that involves channeling all my energy into avoiding pain and suffering. But I will more likely find a refreshing new way to distract myself. Stay tuned. It'll be fascinating, I'm sure.

Lake House Fun!
Monday, July 6, 2009
Had a lovely 4th of July up at the Lake house this year. The kids make it fun and add a level of energy that counter balances the seriously chill atmosphere of lapping waves on the shore, fresh breezy air, and 73 degrees. Adults read trashy magazines, eat donuts and M&Ms, fish, and putz on projects or boats. Holly was here and her and Sage rowed across the lake and back on the world's windy-est day.
4 and 5 yr olds:
Chase each other around the house for an hour on pretend motorcycles
Fish in 10-15 minute stints several times a day
Throw rocks over the break wall
Swim
Ride bikes
Hunt tadpoles
Beg for boat rides
Go to the Park
Play Board Games
Climb Panama Rocks
Do crafts
Roast Marshmallows
Stalk Dogs
Play in the sandbox
Play Ball
Play Cave in the bunk bed
You get the idea . . .
