Best Camping Trip EVER

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

Seems we're turning into Lake Erie shore people. We went camping at the Kelleys Island State park expecting it to a bit rustic as State Parks can be. Wow! Wrong! It was a miniature, uncrowded paradise. Mostly tent people (too expensive to haul the RV on the Ferry) with their bikes to go into town. The beach was pristine and uncrowded. They had cheap kayak rental and the boys went out for an hour in the bay. The bathrooms were well kept. There is a constant refreshing breeze. Lovely little playground. Shaded spacious camp sites. Little store almost on premises if you forget anything. And then a quick drive or bike ride into town where Indy believed there was a "party" because that was how it felt. Live music everywhere, mini golf and ice cream and airbrush tattoos and tacky little shops. I imagine it's like a mini Key West feel. A fabulous place for drinkers except adapted a bit to accommodate family's w/kids. Anyway, loved it. Pictures in black and white and sepia, which I believe make us look like Kennedys.
