Today my son and I had this conversation:
Indy: Mommy, mommy!
R: Whaty?! Whaty?
Indy: Are you my Mama?
R: Yep! Mommy, MaMa, Mother. What do you like to call me?
Indy: My Best Friend (and then he hugged my leg).
No shit. That really happened. It seems like something from a movie, but it is actually directly from Noggin. Two cartoon characters Moose and Zee discuss their names -- full names, nick names, and then Moose says after discussing Zee's many names, "Do you know what I like to call him? My best friend." And then he hugs Zee.
So knowing that makes my son seem much less loving and more brainwashed, but you know what? I'll take it.

allright. You knew that just wasn't going to fly with me. I'm comin' down and showin' him whose mommie's bestest friend 4ever. Has he ever signed a photo? ever written in a year book? ever sent a birthday card? No. no. no. He's so not in the bff league.
gotta get that kid a girlfriend (his own age) so he gives mommy back to me, the rightful heir to the bff title. Unless there are others out there who want a full on, American Gladiator competition for the crown....
Don't worry Holly, we didn't exchange beaded pins for our Reeboks. Your BFF status is intact. I suppose Sage could throw down about it, but I think my boys have their own distinct titles and crowns -- adored son / beloved husband -- leaving BFF completely wide open for you.
Indy needs a friend his age Big Time. That was my second thought after he said it. Thought 1: "Oh my God is that sweet, even though it is a Noggin quote." Thought 2: "This kid needs some real friends."
Incidentally, I took him to play with the neighbor girl yesterday. He tried to kiss her. So socialization is on the top of my priority list for him this summer. :o
