Lite Brite

Tuesday, March 4, 2008

Mine looked just like this one except the kids on my box had designed a clown. Not that you "design" anything as the box included patterns on black construction paper. They even had little letters in grey designating the color peg you were to insert in that hole. Creativity not necessary, included.

I got my Lite Brite, which I still have (thanks Mom), somewhere around the age of 6 or 7. I know I begged for one believing secretly that it would be a disco party in a box. Aside from being bright, there wasn't much going on there, and I quickly became bored.

Now I realize that I was just 3 years too old for it. Indy loves that thing. He talks about how colorful and beautiful it is and how tricky it is to get the pegs in the holes. I made a "steam ship" this morning for him and then turned off the dining room lights and he "Oooooed."

So, if you have a toddler and a Lite Brite in your basement. Quick! Go get it before his/her 5th year, and watch the magic unfold!
